His most recent book is Addison Wesley's Spring Into Technical Writing for Engineers and Scientists. Barry also served as the series editor for the Spring Into series. In 1991, he published KornShell Programming Tutorial, a title that sold well over 30,000 copies and has stayed in print for a remarkable 16 years. An experienced instructor, Barry has taught everything from high school physics to week-long corporate seminars on data structures. He taught a wide range of technical seminars for Technology Exchange Corporation (TEC), which was the teaching arm of Addison-Wesley publishing. Most recently, he spent four semesters at MIT, where he taught advanced technical writing. The material for this technical writing seminar is based almost completely on the material he used at MIT. Barry learned to hold a classroom's attention by working as a professional juggler. In 18 years of entertaining, Barry performed over 1,200 shows in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. He recently had a tiny part in the upcoming Steve Martin move, Pink Panther Deux. Barry holds a Masters in Technical Writing from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). His Bachelors is from Kenyon College, where he double majored in physics and psychology. |
